i finally took my sweet little time and wrote .htaccess protection for all my images. and if you only wish to allow yourself and several other domains to be able to direct link to your images. do something like this in your .htaccess:

I want to allow this site, regretless.com and regretless.org to link images from my site. that’s what i do. If you want your replacement image to show up, make sure you have it somewhere that doesn’t have .htaccess. i only put .htaccess into folders where i have lots of images. i would do it to my whole domain but i also want my buttons to be direct linked by others since i joined button exchanges. i just moved all the buttons to a folder named “buttons” and have no .htaccess in that folder. that will work out nicely. and look! more amusement .. scroll down – between 31 and 32, it’s huge. another one – in the third iframe where the bears are, scroll.
