DodoUpload

DodoUpload is a simple upload script that is not featureless. It is partly inspired by http://pix8.net - a used to be free image hosting service. I love the convenience they offered. Back then they don’t require you to sign up. You can just browse and upload any image files. They will also rename your file if the name of your file already existed.

This all ended when they started to require registration and payment a few days ago. I wrote this script so I can use my own server the way they used to offer. My script has all the functionalities they have and more. Yet it’s very simple to install and use. Take a look at my demostration with user: demo pass: test

watch Fahrenheit 9/11, exercise your right

i watched Fahrenheit 9/11 yesterday. that movie to me was so powerful that every time i close my eyes, some of its images comes to my mind or some of its words come to my ear. no, this is not the first time i’m so impressed by a film. but definitely the first time toward a political film. it’s just incredible that such a film can be played in america during the administration it’s attacking. i was prepared for a bold documentary; it still shocked me with the degree of its boldness. the fact this movie can be played in this country is hardcore democracy. i doubt many other countries can match it. murders of hundreds of thousands of lives committed by the chinese gov’t decades ago still can not be touched even on the Internet. americans who don’t exercise their right to watch this film are simply taking their political system for granted. coming from a non-democractic country, i feel sorry for them. even if you don’t agree with a thing in this movie, this is one of the few opportunities to SEE a complete unsugarcoated report on your gov’t. don’t throw it away!

the film is funny, electrically charged, and thought-provoking. there are people who love this film to death and those absolutely detest it (head over to yahoo for A+ and F ratings). i think this is the beauty of america. i am glad that Moore has the guts to go up against both parties and expose the rampant stupidity and hypocracy in today’s government. you can laugh with tears or vomit at the bloodshedding scenes. no matter how manipulatively moore used facts to make his point. at least he’s using facts while most media is just using words when validating the invasion in iraq. prepare for something that will blow your mind.

bubo on webcam

while i’m on the computer, i usu. put bubo next to me on a chair. if he behaves, he will stay for a long time either playing with his toy or sleeping. so today i caught him on my webcam sleeping! i’m still trying to get a picture of him yawning tho. it’s so easy to miss that. and i need to go to bed myself :)

oh so sleepy

bubo’s rubbing his eyes. so cute hehe…

he likes neck massages

he said it’s five. (he can count :))

yummy pig ear. *lick*

Fahrenheit 9/11

It’s OUT this Friday! Michael Moore’s latest documentary traces why the U.S. has become a target for hatred and terrorism. It will also depict alleged dealings between two generations of the Bush and bin Laden clans that led to George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden becoming mortal enemies.

Starting with the scandalous Florida election results in 2000, ‘Fahrenheit’ is a film designed to question President George W. Bush’s every move in a way most audiences are not used to. Moore, an outspoken loather of the President, has shaped his film like a cinematic bullet, with character assassination on the top of his to-do list. The overtly entertaining ways that Moore usually mounts his documentaries has been put on hold this time around. Instead, ‘Fahrenheit’ shows a series of solemn images and soundbites, arranged as a critical history of the President’s actions since he took office, including the abuse of power and use of fear tactics that have been employed for his monetary and narcissistic gains. Moore is after blood this time around, and his film-making has been sharpened to an alarming degree. His last film, the Oscar-winning ‘Bowling for Columbine,’ was an engrossing diatribe on American society’s ills, filled with comedy, horror, and Moore’s traditional satirical bend. ‘Fahrenheit’ has a much shorter list of goals, and Moore seems aggressively hell-bent on achieving every last one.

Iraq is the largest weight on Moore’s mind this time around, itemizing the Bush administrations’ actions as the country sped towards war over the past three years. Moore is defiant in his questioning of every move the administration has made since 2000, filling the screen with ‘proof’ of contradictions and outright lies, which should be enough to make any conservative’s head explode. Moore is not kidding around here: there’s fascinating, recognizable footage of the Iraqi war’s gruesome early days (which mirrors the footage found in the recent Al Jazeera documentary, ‘Control Room’), then a more personal slant starts to seep into the proceedings. Moore’s cameras follow a U.S. convoy through Iraq during their daily ritual of rousing the frightened locals, looking for the enemy. Intercut with these scenes are interviews with the soldiers, as they question why they were sent to such a hellish environment under false pretenses. We meet a mother of a slain soldier, who is so beside herself with grief, she makes a pilgrimage to the White House to air her pain. And in a short, classic Moore moment, the filmmaker elects to ride in an ice cream truck around Washington, using the P.A. system to read the labyrinthine ‘Patriot Act’ to confused citizens in the street.

The film follows the intricate financial connections between Bush and the Bin Laden family, the ‘war on terror’ found in America’s understaffed borders, the desperation the military is facing trying to get citizens to join the ranks, and, ultimately, how the Bush administration has manipulated and lied to American citizens to further their own objectives. Moore is stacking the deck in his favor, there’s no dispute from this critic about that. Moore wants Bush out of office this November, using ‘Fahrenheit 9/11′ to rally the anti-Bush troops. Maybe the criticism of overt manipulation in ‘Columbine’ rattled Moore, because ‘Fahrenheit’ is a stronger argument, heavy on examples, footage, and documents. It’s a solid film, heading off on tangents, but skillfully retaining its point over and over again.

‘Fahrenheit 9/11′ is brazenly calculating, freely contradictory, and entirely arrogant in its assumptions and declarations (aren’t all documentaries?). But that’s Moore, and it always will be. There are few like him. There is no sickening ’spin,’ useless ‘balance,’ or even an attempt to involve Bush in on the hostile allegations within this film. ‘Fahrenheit 9/11′ is Moore’s personal declaration of governmental fraud, his political agenda, and his solitary attempt to rile the nation up to question their leader’s actions. When was the last time you saw a motion picture do that? In the end, what better way to celebrate America than to know that a film like this can see a safe release and spark debate and anger the old fashioned way: through politics and free thought. The summer just became a little hotter. —– from here

i really do hope my local threater will play this movie. it’s a must see for me. it’s interesting to see based on the poll at movies.com that 70% said “i’ll be the first in line on opening nite” while 13% said “i wouldn’t even watch it on an airplane”. either way i belong to the 70% :)

oh this is probably old news but i didn’t see it until today. i find it highly ironic.

Dick Cheney used his openly-lesbian daughter Mary to woo gay votes and money for his party. Dick now supports adding anti-gay language to the US Constitution, yet Mary is still running his re-election campaign for $100k/year. Join us in asking Mary to be a hero, not a traitor, and stand up to Dick.

visit dearmary.com i’m glad i’m not mary. phew.

While most Americans polled are against gay marriage, less than half support changing the constitution to ban it.

andy gone for a week

andy left this morning for kansas city. he won’t be back until friday. that’s a long time. i don’t think i’ve ever experienced him gone for so long. he’s there to compete in the national vica for automative technology. if he wins, he even gets to compete in an international round in Europe somewhere. LOL let’s see if that will happen. maybe i will get to go to the international one as a guest for free, too.

oh yea, i made a new button for pure essence yesterday. link me :)
link me :)

can you tell i’ve grown?

watching bubo everyday i was surprised to hear he’s grown 1.3lb in two weeks. he was originally 2.1lb the first time we visited the vet and now he’s 3.4lb. what a big dog hehe!

DodoCounter is HERE!

a new project :) someone suggested i should start a service like okcounter.com since they started charging. i thought it wasn’t a bad idea so i did it. it’s my first time playing with GD library. it was fun. it doesn’t have many styles right now. for you talented pixel artists, please join and submit some. with my service, you can also use your very own style for your counter. check it out! here’s an example of my counter.

a datefrom PHP function

while coding for blogmatch today, I wrote a simple function. it returns the date that’s N days from a date you specify. For example, if you provide 2004/03/01 as the input date, it should return 2004/02/29 if you want to find out the date right before 2004/03/01.

The function is pretty straight forward and handy. You provide a date with its month, day and year and how many days before or after that date. It will return an array with keys: year, month and day. read more about it here or you can get the complete source code plus examples here.

a few web updates

i started picking up some of the web projects i’ve been neglecting due to busy schedule.

first The BlogMatch Project is back in business. altho its registration had been open, it didn’t email match results. the previous algorithm used to do matches was proven to be a failure so i’m doing it the old fashioned way now. you provide your keywords here and we will email you the matches DAILY. To ensure quality matches, you may also create a no list to prevent matches from certain members. The system has just been implemented to reflect the change. if you see any errors or have any suggestions, please let me know! I will love you very much if you’d try out the changed system. the number of matches you get is based on the uniqueness of your keywords. if your keyword is rare, then you are less likely to get matches and vice versa.

secondly i put up a new layout at regretless.com. it still badly needs updates on its contents.

lastly DNW alarm me service has been updated. all of your events before March 2003 will be deleted on June 15th to SAVE SPACE. from now on, all events that are 120 days or older WILL BE DELETED BY THE SERVER AUTOMATICALLY! in addition, i’ve modified the script to support REPEATING events. you may now choose to repeat the same event monthly or yearly. see it for yourself!

those who are anti Kerry

i’ve been getting a few comments about how people don’t like Kerry here. none however provided any solid arguments. i used economy as my basis for arguing Bush is incompetent. tho i know most who commented probably can’t vote but it’s funny how so many people are treating this like a beauty contest. you are not exactly voting for american idol or someone you will have lunch with tomorrow you know. brian’s entry do you like him puts it so well: “So, pick your aloof, phoney, elitist, poseur jerk. You’re going to get one either way, so maybe you should, I quess, vote on the issues, or as an evaluation of the current administration. No matter how likeable ‘Dubya’ is, he’s brought us raging deficits, turned Iraq into a terrorist breeding ground faster that Saddam Hussein could, ruined our international credibility in all areas except destructive capacity. I don’t care whether the president is ‘like me’ or not, because somebody “like me” is not ever going to run for president.”

a simple “i don’t like john kerry” is not enough to justify why you shouldn’t vote for him. how many americans are voting with intelligent critical thinking instead of emotions?
