we had my god sister’s family over tonight. they took a really good picture of our family
happy 2007
i haven’t had a chance to blog this but we had to go to the emergency room on the morning of xmas eve.
we went to the mall on december 23rd and stopped by bath and body works. i was looking around and apparently andy applied some sample peppermint scented hand lotion on his face for his dry skin. we went home & played never winter nights. i felt asleep after 12am and andy stayed up playing baldur’s gate. at 5:13 the next morning, i heard andy talking loudly on the phone with someone. i was like wth but tried to fall back asleep until andy told me: “honey we need to go to the emergency room.”
“why” i asked. i thought he was talking to his mom or brother on the phone.
“i have weeping blisters on my face. i just got done talking a nurse on the phone and she said i should go to the emergency room and have them check it out.”
i became widely awake. i stood up and looked at his face. there were many blisters and mostly bursted all over his face.
“wow.” i was shocked. “what happened?”
“i don’t know. i think it was the peppermint scented lotion i used at bath and body works. that was only thing i could have think of that might have caused it.”
either way it looked pretty serious so we quickly got into the car and was ready to head out. he looked at the clock in the car that said 5:30. “that can’t be right.”
“yes that’s right. i looked at the clock when i woke up. you stayed up all night playing the game”
“i thought it was at most 1:30.”
the whole experience at the emergency room was not bad at all. we had great service and got out there within half an hour. the doctor prescribed him some steroids to reduce the inflammation which we picked up at a local walgreens. everything was covered by insurance. we only had to make a $5 copayment for the drug.
the steroids worked wonders and only after a day of application, his blisters were almost all gone. now you can’t tell if anything happened to his face at all.
that kind of excitement just makes the rest of the holiday rather dull
i beat final fantasy XII a few days ago. overall i found the game rather disappointing. this is the first final fantasy series i didn’t like. the only thing i really like about it is the battle system. and that is pretty sad.
==do NOT continue if you don’t want spoilers==
the story IMO sucked. i never felt for any characters. the stories behind the characters all left much to be desired. maybe one of the reasons why the story sucked so much is that it draws much parallels to FFX storyline and it’s inferior in every aspect. so vaan’s brother died and he’s looking for the meaning of his life. did he find it compared to tidus from FFX, i don’t feel he has grown up at all. balthier’s dad is Cid – and balthier killed him. big deal.. i didn’t feel like i cared nor did it seem he did. basch is mindless knuckle head and all he knew was “oh my god, i had to protect my master.” – not even worth to wash auron’s feet. ashe.. stop the “uh”! jeez
i was also disappointed there wasn’t any love stories. the love story in FF9 clinched me so much i cry every time i watch the ending.
and the antagonists sucked, too. where are the traditional awfully annoying antagonists like Seifer and Seymour you feel satisfied to beat the heck out of them every time. altho my favorite antagonist is FF9′s kuja – coz he’s cute and you actually feel sorry for him at the end.
the most disappointing thing is the ending. like when did penelo became the ever important character to give the narratives it didn’t even show ashe’s ceremony becoming the queen i was hoping they showed something more after the long credits like they usually do but the only thing i found was “the end”.
other disappointing things about FFXII
- where is the addictive side game that started from FFVIII’s triple triaid the hunt was ok for a while but it’s not something you can always do and the rewards SUCKED.. what’s the point of doing them
- i can’t believe nothing gives you damage limit break in this game. i thought after FFX it’s pretty much a standard. the quickening takes forever – there is no guaranteed damage.. i personally just like to hack the enemies down arg.
- because the characters can be as generic as you want them in this game. there is no specialized ultimate weapon like in FFX.
- the world map is so one dimentional. you don’t get the airship until the very end of the game. oh well why you need the airship anyway. you can’t board it from anywhere. teleporting is an easier way to transport anyway. i’ve been waiting all game for the mysterious location of the map – an entire new atmosphere to explore.
i don’t even remember when was the last time i visited d-addicts.. the 200gb hd in the computer makes me want to download huge chinese drama series again. haha.. i always had some interest in the series Return of the Condor Heroes 2006.. not only that i want to watch Liu Yi Fei in her pretty white dress!!! gosh that dress was like my childhood fantasy dress. doesn’t she have a perfect face to fit it or what so jealous.
want to see more photos from the drama
anyway, if you are interested, you can download all of its 41 episodes here. they should all have english subtitle. d-addicts usu. put up pretty decent subtitles. i got andy addicted to another series A Step Into the Past. see if he will watch this one with me
after my new computer is put together, i finally downloaded firefox 2.0. i know i’m slow.
here are the specs for my new pc:
ASUS P5WD2 premium motherboard
P4 3.6 Ghz
1gb RAM with 800mb FSB
512mb graphics card
200gb harddrive
19 LDC monitor
hopefully that means i will be able to do some real computing & gaming now.
the first thing i learned about firefox 2.0 is that you may easily config the close button on the tabs/tab bar
here you may learn more about other setting you may change by editing the about:config entries.
