Oriental theme featured

Update! I hear a lot of problems in this layout with some plugins. I guess this has something to do with your plugin using 

clear: left;

or 

clear: both;

in its CSS. I recoded this layout using relative positioning instead of float. This and subpage support have been added in version 1.1.x.

CSS Frameworks

I write my CSS from scratch and I know enough tricks/hacks to pull out most of all what I want to accomplish. Although I’ve always heard the yahoo YUI project and understand what its reset css achieves, I never knew there are so many other CSS frameworks out there. Hidden pixels has listed a great number of them. I don’t know if I will consider using them. I can’t see I will gain a lot of benefits from what I’ve done by using a framework but I might look into it since I have some time off work coming up :)

Oriental has been updated to be compatible with the WordPress 3.5.1 on 2/28/2013.

  • version 1.1.1 – Recoded to use relative positioning instead of float.
  • version 1.1.2 – Fixed IE 6 issue brought up http://wordpress.org/support/topic/208400 and the random post issue brought up http://wordpress.org/support/topic/218342
  • version 1.2.0 – Making the theme compatible with wp 2.7. And sorry I no longer wish to support IE 6. If this theme doesn’t look good in IE 6, use a different one. And seriously everyone need to move off the evil IE 6.
  • version 1.2.1 – Made the theme a bit more backward compatible.
  • version 1.3.0 – Made compatible with wordpress version 3.5.1. Fixed some bugs viewed under the latest versions of the browers. Added responsive web styling. Added support for wordpress 3 menu.
  • version 1.3.10 – Updated screenshot and the sidebar background image, fixed site title

WordPress widget

Man, I cannot believe how long I’ve been putting off implementing widgets for wordpress. I really want to be able to use those nice widgets although I don’t like the way some of the default ones are styled but I still think it will really make theme creation a lot easier. Here’s a tutorial on how to use multiple sidebars.
