almost burned down the house

yesterday when my friend martha arrived, we started cooking. when andy started the wrapping egg rolls, i filled the wak with oil and placed it on the stove and turned it to high. while andy’s in the kitchen finishing up the egg rolls, i eagerly headed the bedroom with martha to show her all the cool things i got lately. with our excitement in my mind, hot wak quickly drifted out. next thing i heard was andy’s scream in the kitchen. as soon as we stepped back to the kitchen, andy was holding a wak buring in flames. the fire was both outside and inside of the wak. due the large amount of oil i put in, the fire didn’t seem want to stop.
soon the wak was too hot for andy to hold, out of panic, he placed it on the floor. for a moment i didn’t know what to do. andy told me to put some kind of power over it. i took out the jar of floor and poured in. the fire only got worse afterward. i was praying that we wont burn the house down. finally andy took the act and asked us to open the door and he grabbed the oven mittens and swiftly picked up the wak and ran outside.
the wak that was still burning outside in the walkway soon cooled down and fire was out. but the tile in kitchen was severely damaged with an ugly circle of ashes.
we were all happy that we were still alive and nothin too important got damaged. only that andy’s hand had a mild burn.
later andy and i went to menards and go a square foot of a new tile to replace the old area. altho the pattern was distinctly different from the old tile, it looked much better than having rings of black ashes.

  1. Ohmygosh sis!!! How dangerous. 😦 Well I’m thankful you were all okie. Poor andy.. his hands must be hurting. 😦 Oil and woks are pretty dangerous… my mom never lets me leave the kitchen when she’s making anything like that… cuz it really does start splattering all over the place.. eek. = Take care of andy… okie? šŸ™‚

  2. Dodo, I’m glad you and Andy and Martha are alright! I think if you put a cover on the wok it might have stopped the fire. How is Andy’s hand doing? Maybe some aloe vera will help.
