thanks shi for being so sweet and supporting. maybe i’m being too pessimistic on dmb’s coding. yes it is inefficient but it’s still curable. if i re-plan the whole thing from database design to layout design (javascript, css) with all my knowledge i can probably improve its performance by 200%. and shi told me another domain name more appropriate for dmb is available and she’s gonna give me a testing space 🙂
since regretless.org is going to expire in august, i will set that day to be my goal to have dmb moved to the new system ^_^
i will have to remove some of the unnecessary hacks such as buddyland, theme background music etc. basically anything that did not perform very well in the past will be taken out. i will leave the most essential parts and we will start from there. i will probably need some beta testers before it’s launched. so if you are interested, leave a comment 🙂

I think it’s good that you’re just rewriting a lot and not moving onto a new script 🙂 I tried phpbb once, and I must admit I didn’t like it much. Templating gets really difficult, and all the funcitons you need seems to be in seperate files that’s impossible to find. *shrug*

Glad to see you feel a lot better and not “so-dissapointed” with the coding of DMB anymore…
I’m sure the new board features should be great as usual. but i trully hope you dont leave us too much in the old board… you know, is good to focus in new targets but we still need you in DMB until it expires 😉

i agree that buddyland is not so necessary. and not many people use it anyways. most people just write alist of buddies in their profile anyhow.
also the theme background music,, im not sure if ive ever used it even once. so this sounds like a good idea just to leave all of the unnecessary things behind and keep all of the strong qualities. 🙂 goodluck!
