dodo has been online for ten years

the other night i realized something amazing. i’ve been to the online world for ten years. i got my first modem at home when i was 16 and i’m turning 26 soon. TEN YEARS.. that’s a long time. a very significant part of a life. from 16 to 26, a person can change so much. so i started to remember everything that happened in this ten years. i became so emotional i couldn’t sleep. perhaps every generation has its own thing that’s bound to change people’s lives and the internet is the one for mine.
now please excuse my poor english. i can never express my emotions in english the way i do in chinese. therefore i notice when i get emotional, i speak in chinglish.

excitement at xmas eve

i haven’t had a chance to blog this but we had to go to the emergency room on the morning of xmas eve.
we went to the mall on december 23rd and stopped by bath and body works. i was looking around and apparently andy applied some sample peppermint scented hand lotion on his face for his dry skin. we went home & played never winter nights. i felt asleep after 12am and andy stayed up playing baldur’s gate. at 5:13 the next morning, i heard andy talking loudly on the phone with someone. i was like wth but tried to fall back asleep until andy told me: “honey we need to go to the emergency room.”
“why” i asked. i thought he was talking to his mom or brother on the phone.
“i have weeping blisters on my face. i just got done talking a nurse on the phone and she said i should go to the emergency room and have them check it out.”
i became widely awake. i stood up and looked at his face. there were many blisters and mostly bursted all over his face.
“wow.” i was shocked. “what happened?”
“i don’t know. i think it was the peppermint scented lotion i used at bath and body works. that was only thing i could have think of that might have caused it.”
either way it looked pretty serious so we quickly got into the car and was ready to head out. he looked at the clock in the car that said 5:30. “that can’t be right.”
“yes that’s right. i looked at the clock when i woke up. you stayed up all night playing the game”
“i thought it was at most 1:30.”
the whole experience at the emergency room was not bad at all. we had great service and got out there within half an hour. the doctor prescribed him some steroids to reduce the inflammation which we picked up at a local walgreens. everything was covered by insurance. we only had to make a $5 copayment for the drug.
the steroids worked wonders and only after a day of application, his blisters were almost all gone. now you can’t tell if anything happened to his face at all.
that kind of excitement just makes the rest of the holiday rather dull
in the new house
May 8th, 2006
on april 22nd we started moving to our new two story + plus basement house. we finished moving everything on the 24th. it’s been over two weeks now since we’ve lived in the new house, i’m still not satisified with everything. i’ve been pushing andy everyday to do more work around the house. i think he’s tired of me. yesterday we start hanging stuff on the wall and got our new washer and dryer. unfortunately we couldn’t use the dryer because the person who ordered for us didn’t bother asking if our vent is at the back or side. we need to order extra hardware and have a technician over to make it work with our vent on the side.
i know i’m too impatient.. i want to invite some friends over to at least look at it. so i want to make it presentable.
things to do:
waiting for the dryer’s side vent kit
waiting for a new bed frame for andy’s futon
need to put up all the decorations
need to put up my new quilt cover, pillow set from IKEA
need to get a new night stand for the guest bedroom
need to arrange all the stuff in the basement
need a doggy door in the basement (or do we?)
our old entertainment center (now in my bedroom) is sagging in the middle. we need to find a piece of a wood to support it.

this is actually not so new. it’s taken at andy’s brother’s wedding Sept, 2004. we never got a copy tho >< i had to reproduce it with my digitcal cam from the copy andy’s mom has so it looks weird. haha..
hrm that lobster feast was fun. does andy look drunk by any chance?!

today’s andy’s last day at his old job - auto technician for iowa city toyota shop. monday he’s gonna start a new desk job as a customer service for toyota financial (headquarter) with a pay raise and lots more benefits. i’m so proud of him ^_^
welcome to cubicle life XP. you get wonderful deals if you wish to lease or purchase a brand new toyota working there. lease also includes insurance and registration. well i’m sure i will find out more about it once he starts his job.
my birthday

it’s my 23rd birthday today. aw getting old at least i’m getting old with someone i love. andy’s birthday is next month.
i woke up with a card by my pillow (andy has to leave for work earlier than me). inside of the card is a poem:

the new year’s celebration was very sweet. the captital one bowl was overwhelming. the 14 second touchdown by iowa is just unreal. shortly after the game, misty and bubo put on a show called “I want to be Santa” for us (it’s a gif animation file)
both of the puppies got their sweaters on
so much food
i’m hungry
grandma got misty’s sweater off a teddybear. how cute!
we love grandma!
we are wore out

new family addition

hi everyone, meet Misty. She is Bubo’s new sister. She’s a cream colored pomeranian who is 13 weeks old. We drove an hour and 15 minutes with Bubo today to get her. Bubo and Misty love each other very much as you can see in the photos. Misty has sad eyes. She’s constantly saying please love, kiss and hug me.
