CHINESE google & feedreader

i didn’t know google has chinese search engine! for all this time, i’ve been using the crappy yahoo.com.cn search engine. DUMB ME! now perhaps i can find chinese websites a lot easier. but i wonder if google tracks sites hosted in china? anywayz, gotta love google. google is god. go check if google has search engine in your language or not!

I also started to use the feedreader. thanks to lele! you ask what it does? well first you need to know rss.

What is RSS?
RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it’s not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the “recent changes” page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way. read more?

Related scripts
cafelog.com – if you install b2, you should have rss function built into your blog. This means your rss url will be http://yourdomain/b2directory/b2rss.php
movabletype – another blog script that has rss function. if you own one, your rss should be http://yourdomain/mt/index.xml
pmachine – same as above http://yourdomain/mt/index.xml
livejournal – if you own a livejournal, your rss will be http://livejournal.com/~you/rss.xml

The Reader!!
Now get feedreader! This is a software that allows you to add everyone’s rss together in an organized way. When you have it open, a popup window will appear when you have unread feeds. This way you don’t have to surf around anyway; you will get all the updates you need while you are surfing! So add me 🙂 http://regretless.com/b2rss.php

  1. (0_0) !!! double gasp! i didn’t know that RSS could do that … let you read everyone’s blogs without surfing around. I was trying to think of a way I could do that, and it’s been right under my nose the entire time. Now, to figure out how to get started with this..

    thanks dodo =)
